Our Commercial Partner, Philip Chapman, has gained a new qualification as an Accredited commercial and civil CEDR Mediator. Mediation is a voluntary and confidential way of resolving disputes without going to court and has developed over recent years to be a highly effective and quick way to resolve business and personal disputes.
It involves using an independent and neutral third party (a Mediator) who helps both parties to come to an agreement. It is robust, quick to set up and recognises the commercial realities of life. In many cases, it has the additional virtues of resolving disputes while retaining or rebuilding personal and business relationships, and dealing with peripheral but important issues, which no court has the remit to do. A mediator will be involved in resolving corporate and commercial disputes, negligence and employment claims, property disagreements, inheritance claims and many other areas of disagreement.
As a CEDR Accredited Mediator, Philip can offer absolute confidentiality, impartiality and neutrality throughout the mediation process. Matters discussed are not disclosed to any party outside the mediation. With the help of the Mediator the parties to the dispute will be able to explore different options and discuss these in a safe and confidential environment.
